Mantis Glass Claypot Noodles

Mantis Glass Claypot Noodles

The next restaurant brings me deeper into the off beaten tracks heading towards Kuala Selangor.

The Sleepy Fishing Village

Legend has it, slightly beyond Kapar along the sandy banks of the Malacca Strait is a forgotten dish consisting of freshly caught, juicy and plump Mantis prawns served with glass noodles and soaked in a simmering broth consisting of fragrant spices such as turmeric, pepper, chilli and curry in a piping hot claypot.

The Sleepy Fishing Village

It was so popular once upon a time that it was more often than not, sold out. However, when I visited, the owner’s daughter gave me a puzzled look and gently scratched her head as she sought a reason as to why the dish lost its popularity.

It was soon discovered that when they revised their menu, the actual dish was removed by accident with only its picture on the menu for illustration purposes without a name nor price!

Diners have the luxury of eating in the open air with the tranquil view of fishing boast rested along the muddy river banks. Should you embark on a quest in search of this forgotten dish, don’t forget to ask for Mantis Glass Claypot Noodles (RM45)!!
